Society members, family and friends travelled on preserved Devon General buses on the 40th (and final) annual Devon Coastal Run organised by the Historic Transport Club.
The Devon General vehicles on the run were VDV 817, 1 RDV, CTT 513C and MSJ 499 (formerly 925 GTA). Forty or so passengers boarded at Exeter’s Sowton Park & Ride site on one of the hottest days of year for a most enjoyable trip along the classic Service 2 route to Dawlish where there was a short break. The journey continued through Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Torquay, Paignton and Totnes before stopping for lunch at either Buckfastleigh Station or Buckfast Abbey. The final leg to Bovey Tracey saw our buses join the remainder of the road run at the rally site in the mid-afternoon before returning to Exeter. A very pleasant day was enjoyed by all.
