If you’re coming to our ‘Devon General Remembered’ vintage bus running day based at Highweek Way in Newton Abbot, here is some useful information:
Is the event free?
Yes, travel on our bus services is free, but we would appreciate you buying a souvenir programme as it helps us meet the costs of running the event.

Is there a connection from Newton Abbot railway station?
Yes, Service 36 to Highweek Way will depart from the bus stop in the layby opposite the station at 0915, 0930, 0945, 1000, 1015, 1030, 1045 (Ser. 12) and 1100. Service 12 to Highweek Way will then call at the stop at 1115, 1145, 1215, 1245, 1315, 1345, 1415, 1445 and 1515.
To return to the station, Service 12 buses from Highweek Way departing at 1000, 1030, 1100, 1130, 1200, 1230, 1300, 1330, 1400, 1430 and 1500 will call at the station on the way to Lawes Bridge. Service 36 will return from Highweek Way to the station at 1520, 1530 (Ser. 12), 1545, 1600, 1615 and 1630.
Are the town centre bus stops nearby?
Yes, the main town centre bus stops are in Sherborne Road, which is about a 5 minute walk from Highweek Way.
How long are the bus trips?
We offer a range of round trips, from 30 to 60 minutes. Service 36 to Sandygate and the Open Top circular tour take 30 minutes, Service 15 to Ipplepen and Service 116 to Combinteignhead take 45 minutes, Service 2 to Teignmouth and Service 12 to Lawes Bridge take 50 minutes, Service 90 to Ideford takes 55 minutes, and Service 1 to Chudleigh takes 60 minutes.
Where can I find the times of the free bus services?
The timetables are in the souvenir programme. There will be a list of departures at the bus stop in Highweek Way.
Are dogs allowed on the buses?
Small, well-behaved dogs on a lead may travel on the buses (but not on the seats), at the discretion of the bus conductor.
Can the buses carry wheelchairs?
The buses that take part in our running days are up to 70 years old and their design does not provide for carrying wheelchairs. If a small wheelchair can be folded up, it may be possible to place it in the luggage area – please ask the bus conductor.
Is there car parking nearby?
The nearest council car parks to Highweek Way are at Newfoundland Way, the Livestock Market, and Wolborough Way. All-day parking on a Sunday is £3.
Although there is an Asda store car park adjacent to Highweek Way, we recommend that you do not park here as it is only for the use of Asda customers whilst in the store.
